You may be a young adult completing school or launching your career.  Perhaps you’re well into your chosen career but are confronting challenges or changes in your work place.  Worry and anxiety typically accompany these transitional periods.  Adjusting to change or simply contemplating the need for change in your work setting or career may arouse feelings of frustration and self-doubt.  The emotional fatigue can be overwhelming. Lack of sleep happens when the stress of work takes over, further aggravating the problem and making it even more difficult to perform focused work.

Many of us feel that success at work is necessary – at any cost.  As a result we compromise our health, relationships and social life in an effort to advance our career.

“There is no greater agony

than bearing an untold story inside you.”

~ Maya Angelou

Discussing work or career related issues with your psychotherapist is a healthy activity. It is also a sensible choice that will help you objectively look at your career development. Together we identify your priorities and career or educational goals.   We will assess areas of strengths and weakness.  For instance, if you determine that you would like to be more assertive in your communication with colleagues or your supervisor, or possibly need to address and resolve low confidence or self esteem that may get in your way of seeking a job change or promotion.  We will focus on and strengthen your existing skills.

Supportive psychotherapy is a successful approach to helping and resolving these emotional and personal experiences. I integrate an eclectic model of psychotherapy methods and principles to mobilize problem solving and motivation.  I draw upon techniques from such models of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), stress management techniques and Lifestyle Coaching.

For 25 years I have been working in the field of mental health counseling and practicing as a psychotherapist. I have treated a wide range of presenting problems.  I manage my own practice and have developed a model that merges professionalism and clinical skill with warmth and care.  I create a supportive therapeutic environment where people can explore and discuss intimate and difficult emotions, memories of the past and challenges of the present day.  My high level of skill and my caring approach facilitate successful outcomes.
